Some flowers and fruit may not give up their fragrance in an essential oil; therefore synthetics have been created to duplicate these scents. Natural and synthetic fragrance sources complement each other. The new aromatics contribute special and unusual notes to a fragrance while essential oils round out, fix, and soften a compound.
